CISH- Decomposer (Compost Booster)

Background:
Composting is the degradation process in which complex organic substances are converted into simpler molecules with the help of certain microorganisms present in the soil. The ICAR-CISH, Lucknow has developed a microbial consortium comprising certain bacteria that is very potential in accelerating composting rate.:
Technology Details:
Composting is a natural biological phenomenon that occurs in the soil where complex organic molecules are converted into simpler molecules by microorganisms present in the soil. The microbes, mainly bacteria, and fungi break down complex organic residues into very simple compounds that are easily absorbed by the plants. The gases released in the process go into the environment. The pace of composting depends upon the type of soil, soil conditions, and types of microflora present in the soil. However, it can be increased by adding useful microbes to the soil in the form of compost booster. The compost booster has a different composition of microbes. The microbial enzymatic activity of all the cultures has been tested. It will help in reducing pollution and converting biological waste into valuable compost which in turn will reduce the requirement for chemical fertilizers and help in the increasing area under organic cultivation.
